Minion Info

What is a Minion?

Minions are adult volunteers (19+ or out of high school for 1 year), formerly known as iBods, who are eager to serve in a variety of ways at the NYG.  This includes welcoming, writing, acting, artistry, organizing, Bible study leading, event setting up and taking down, ‘takin’ care of the details’ etc.  In addition to serving and volunteer work, Minions are encouraged to attend sessions and events whenever possible.  See the Minion registration form for more information.  If there are monetary concerns, please contact the Registrar.

Minions (Previously known as iBods) Requirements and Responsibilities

Minions are responsible adult volunteers who have been out of high school (finished grade 12) for a period of one year prior to the NYG and who are eager to serve in a variety of ways at the NYG.  This includes welcoming, acting, artistry, organizing, Bible study leading, event set up and take down, etc. under the guidance of the committee member(s) in charge.  In addition to serving and volunteer work, Minions are encouraged to attend all sessions and events when they are not assigned elsewhere, and they are expected to be positive and encouraging role models for the youth.

This program is designed to offer meaningful tasks that will develop leadership experience, as well as to aid the planning committee in carrying out a successful Gathering.  Volunteers may be assigned to different program teams, and we attempt to place individuals in areas where they are using their strengths or developing skills of interest; however, sometimes there are tasks that aren’t anyone’s first choice, and Minions who volunteer should be willing to help out when necessary.

Minions must:

  • Have finished grade 12 at least one year before the NYG
  • Have a servant’s heart and be committed to performing volunteer tasks during the NYG
  • Ideally be able to attend the entire NYG
  • Provide their own transportation to and from the NYG
  • Pay the Minion registration fee
  • Apply for a vulnerable sector criminal record check and pay any applicable fees (a volunteer letter from the NYG committee asking for a reduction in the fee will be available upon request)
  • Fill out all Minion forms and register online by the deadline
  • Before arriving at the gathering, carefully review all the gathering materials provided in the registration package and on the NYG website, such as the FAQs, the schedule, and the campus map
  • Remain on-site for the duration of the gathering, and notify the Minion coordinator(s) of their scheduled arrival and departure time
  • Attendance at a pre-gathering training Zoom may be requested
